Privacy policy
Please ensure you read and understand the My Medical Choice privacy notice, as privacy and data safety is crucial to ensuring Users feel comfortable subscribing to the service. By “we”, “us”, or “our”, we refer to My Medical Choice and/or the Safe Blood service.
The effective management of all personal data, including security and confidentiality, is central to our business and essential to our practices and processes.
This notice applies to you, the User of our Services, and us, the provider of the Services, and governs the processing of your personal data in context of our Services and business. Please be reassured that the User data we process is minimal, and required only for the purpose of contacting Users in an emergency, such as during a system failure, outage, or similar situation, and updating Users from time to time on new features and/or services added to the My Medical Choice website.
Personal data refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“Personal Data”). The storage and use of Users’ personal data is regulated in the UK under the “UK General Data Protection Regulation 2021 (GDPR)”.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK is the relevant authority in matters of data protection. Users have the right to make a complaint at any time to the ICO (www.ico.org.uk) if they feel the limited contact data we hold for has been misused. However, we’d appreciate it if Users contact us in the first instance with their concerns before they approach the ICO to enable us to investigate the matter and, should those concerns prove valid, to allow us to rectify the issue. Complaints can be sent to us using the Contact Us form on the My Medical Choice website.
My Medical Choice allows storage on our secure database of Users’ health and medical information that is necessary for using the Service. We do not have access to User’s personal profile pages or the data contained therein, and we do not process that data. The User is responsible for processing their data on their personal medical profile page.
My Medical Choice is able to access data provided to My Medical Choice by the User for the purpose of correspondence and contact, only. Such data may include: name, telephone number, and email address.
Any data supplied by the User to My Medical Choice for the purpose of correspondence or contact will remain available only to us and will not be sold or passed on to a third party. Users of the Service will not receive newsletters, sales correspondence, or any other type of unsolicited mail or telephone calls from My Medical Choice, aside from updates on new features and services added to the My Medical Choice website. As stated in our Terms & Conditions, any contact between My Medical Choice and our Users is primarily for the purpose of providing important information relating to service outage or similar, or to inform Users of additional features and services added to the website.
The User is responsible for the safety of data engraved on Medical Alert Jewellery, and My Medical Choice suggests the User wear the jewellery at all times or keep it somewhere safe and private when it’s not being worn. The User is responsible for updating the Login Code if the jewellery is lost or damaged.
The Login Code engraved on the Medical Alert jewellery that is used for emergency service access is automatically computer-generated, as My Medical Choice has no access to or record of a User’s Login Code.
In line with sensible security precautions, we recommend Users update their Login Code once it has been used by emergency services to access a User’s personal medical profile.
My Medical Choice does not store details of financial transactions and uses a third party online processor for payments and subscriptions.
Cookies are used on our website solely for the purpose of ensuring ease of access to the Service for our Users, and are not used for data collection.
Once a User’s subscription ends, should they not renew with My Medical Choice, their profile page will be deleted and their data will be no longer stored on our database.
